Golden Care Teak Protector is a water-based colour protector designed to help maintain the warm golden-brown look of outdoor teak for longer. It can last up to 4 times longer than traditional teak oil and up to twice as long as teak sealers, while keeping a more natural-looking finish.

Finish Guide

• Honey Brown: deepens the teak by a couple of shades and gives it a richer, more vibrant honey-brown look.
• Blonde: gives a lighter finish that stays closer to the look of raw teak.

Before You Apply

• Clean the teak thoroughly first, ideally with Golden Care Teak Cleaner.
• New teak should either be cleaned to remove natural oils or allowed to weather outdoors briefly before treatment.
• If the wood feels rough after cleaning, sand lightly.
• Make sure the surface is 100% dry, smooth and dust-free before applying.
• Test on a small hidden area first to make sure the colour suits your furniture.

How To Apply

• Shake and stir well before use.
• Apply the Teak Protector liquid onto a clean, dust-free cloth or rag first, then wipe it onto the timber in a very thin, even coat. This helps spread the product evenly before it dries.
• Do not pour or squirt the product directly onto the furniture.
• If needed, apply a second very thin coat after the first coat has dried.
• Allow 24 hours drying time before use or before applying any other Golden Care treatment.
• If you want added water- and dirt-repellent protection, apply Golden Care Teak Shield after the Protector has fully dried. Apply Protector first, then Shield, never the other way around.

Important Care Notes

• Do not apply directly over teak that has been treated with teak oil or sealer without cleaning first, as this can cause discolouration.
• Cover the ground before application to help avoid staining paving, decking or grass.
• Avoid contact with other materials where possible. If spilled, rinse immediately with water.
• Once fully dry, treated furniture can be left outdoors.
• Golden Care generally recommends reapplying around once a year, or more often in harsher weather conditions.
• If you prefer teak to weather naturally to a silver-grey patina, Golden Care recommends Teak Shield rather than a colour protector.

• Wear gloves and eye protection during application.
• Keep out of reach of children and keep the container tightly closed when not in use.
