Golden Care Teak & Hardwood Shield is a transparent, water-based protector for teak and other hardwoods. It helps repel water, moisture and everyday staining while keeping the timber looking natural rather than coated or glossy. It is especially useful if you want teak to weather to its silver-grey patina but still want added protection against spills and outdoor exposure.

Before You Apply

• Clean the timber thoroughly first, ideally with Golden Care Teak Cleaner.
• New teak should either be cleaned to remove its natural oils or allowed to weather outdoors briefly before treatment.
• If the timber is dark grey or heavily weathered, clean it first and lightly sand rough areas if needed.
• Make sure the surface is 100% dry, smooth and dust-free before applying.
• If you are also using Golden Care Teak Protector, apply the Protector first and only apply Shield after the Protector has fully dried.

How To Apply

• Shake well before use.
• Apply the Teak Shield liquid onto a soft, clean cloth or rag first, then wipe it onto the timber in a thin, even coat for more even coverage.
• Do not squirt it directly onto the furniture.
• Allow the first coat to dry, then apply a second thin coat.
• Let the timber dry thoroughly before use, and keep it out of rain or heavy moisture while it cures.

Ongoing Care

• Reapply as needed to maintain protection, especially on tabletops and other horizontal surfaces that see more weather and regular use.
• Horizontal surfaces such as tabletops may need more frequent attention.
• If spills occur, clean them off promptly.
• Avoid harsh cleaners, as stronger cleaning can weaken the protective layer and make reapplication necessary sooner.

• Use in a well-ventilated area.
• Wear gloves and eye protection during application.
• Cover surrounding ground before use and avoid contact with other materials where possible.
• If spilled onto other surfaces, rinse promptly with water.
• Protect the product from frost when storing.
